Why learn kung fu in China?

Cultural immersion, great way to get fit and healthy, or lose weight, food accommodation and tuition in cluded, program participants are provided with space to breathe, insight into Buddhism and taoism, opportunity to learn Chinese kung fu from the best kung fu masters, value for money and fun, optional Chinese language learning classes, building confidence, fostering greater awareness, learning about ancient longevity secrets and of course making new friends.

Can I take time off from training to travel?

All participants of kung fu classes will have every weekend off, so that they can explore or travel. All of our programs and schools are located in fabulous, historical locations, so there is much to see. In addition to weekends, public holidays are also an excellent time for our gap year participants to travel. If this is something that you would like to do, please discuss this with your SMA advisor. They will be happy to assist you with ideas and tips for making the most out of your time.

When can I start?

We have a number of different gap year programs that can be started throughout the year. Additionally, we have programs that allow you to book at the same time as other students so that you arrive as a group and gain a group discount.

Do I need previous martial arts experience?

Learning kung fu in China does not require any prior martial arts experience. All you need to do is empty your cup, harness your sense of adventure, and be enthusiastic and committed. Turn martial arts and adventure into a way of life and a catalyst to greater awareness and self-growth.

I am worried about traveling alone. Will I meet other cool people during the experience? 

Most of our kung fu class participants travel alone, but you’re likely to meet people going to the same destination just after arrival. We’ll do our best to put you in contact with other StudyMartialArts.Org students as well as do our best to group your travel for training discounts.

What will the program cost?

In addition to finding the best place to learn kung fu in China, our service includes pre-departure advice, free consultation, an information pack, support, and access to a local coordinator. Most training options include 3 meals per day, tuition, optional extra classes, accommodation, language learning material, and selected discounts.

What is included?

Program costs don’t include international flights and domestic flights, visas and vaccinations, travel insurance, personal expenses, and local transport. However, we can help you arrange these before your departure or make suggestions for you to find the best place to learn kung fu in China. What is included is accommodation, food, training, and a few extras, depending on the school of choice.

What with the accommodation be like?

School accommodation offers various levels of comfort. Most are basic and shared. However, increasingly, there are additional options for those who prefer single or higher-level options for those seeking more comfort.
